CLIDEP – Haiti
In March 2013, I accompanied Dr. Lionel Carmant, neurologist at Hôpital Sainte-Justine, Montréal, on one of his frequent trips to Haiti to see patients and oversee the functioning of the CLIDEP clinic (Clinique d’épilepsie de Port-au-Prince) which he founded in 2008 to give to people of Haiti, suffering from neurological disorders, the chance to live happy and healthy lives. CLIDEP’s primary mission is to prevent neurological diseases, to make accurate diagnosis of these disorders, and finally to propose treatment plans through medication and rehabilitation in occupational therapy, physiotherapy and speech therapy. This is made possible by his wonderful team of local technicians, doctors and therapists.
